Catholic Art Saturday

The San Damiano Cross
St. Francis of Assisi knelt in the ruins of San Damiano, an old church, Our Lord on the Cross came alive and spoke to Francis, saying, "Rebuild my Church". Francis took that literally and rebuilt the church which eventually housed St. Clare and the Poor Ladies.
The Church of San Damiano stands still today in the town of Assisi Italy.

One of the Catholic Church's most beloved saints, modeled the life of Christ including the stigmata the last few years of his life. He lived from 1182-1226.

  1. Beautiful. That cross is special to me as I grew up with that image in our house.
So, when are we taking the trip to visit Assisi?
