Catholic Art Saturday/ The Pieta

The Pietà (1498–1499) is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti.

Whether Mary actually held our Savior in her arms literally, is unknown, but she certainly held Him in her heart. This image has always evoked compassion for the suffering of Mary and immense gratitude for the Passion of Christ.
"For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."

  1. One of the most beautiful pieces of art we're blessed to have on this earth. And, it's my favorite.
