My Confession....

Here it is...........I HATE TO COOK! I really do, I love to bake, but detest cooking. I stumbled across a website where a lady cooked in her crockpot for 365 days! WOW! See now I don't consider using a crockpot cooking, so it's something I can do. Especially now that summer is approaching, using the oven heats up the house too much. I thought some of her recipes sounded pretty tasty. Here is her link: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

I think I may have to try her deep dish pizza recipe.

  1. We are opposites then. I wouldn't say I LOVE to cook, but I am really beginning to enjoy it lots more. Baking, on the other hands, frustrates me. Just not enough margin for error. It takes all types, though, for sure.

And PS, my crock pot is my kitchen BFF. We often have crock pot meals on Monday for whatever reason. I have several of my fave recipes posted under my "recipes" tag if you're interested, I know at least one is a crock pot chili that we LOVE.

  2. Me too, I love to cook but do not enjoy baking very much. Shame we're not neighbours, we could swap on a daily basis, my 2 course meals for some fresh bread and cupcakes lol!

Our crockpot broke, keep meaning to buy a new one but haven't seen one on sale yet...maybe in the summer sales.

  3. It's just not logical to like baking but not cooking....but unfortunately logic wasn't bestowed upon me. I think it has to do with a warm and yummy smell when I bake, my Nana and my Mom both used to bake often, so I think it's just in my blood. Monica, I will have to check out your recipes. I love our crockpot and our bread machine, I couldn't live without these these items! Eloise...wish you were closer, I would certainly take you up on that!!!

  4. I made the crock pot pizza for dinner tonight and it wasn't bad. Both girls ate it really well (and for Melanie to eat anything well, much less something with ground beef, is amazing!) I used turkey pepperoni (less fat and we like the flavor better) and if you do the same I'd recommend putting it in after an hour or so, since it's leaner it tends to dry out a bit faster. So overall I'd say it was a success, but if I'm really craving pizza this wouldn't curb my craving, so don't make it hoping that you'll sidestep having real pizza.

And thanks for reintroducing me to the crock pot blog. I had seen it a while back and forgot about it. Hopefully I'll start using it more regularly now.

  6. Cool! If kids will eat it, there's 79.2% of the battle! Ha! Will definitely have to try it out, is the crust super soft or mushy at all, Elizabeth? Michelle, the Chow Mein sounds good...I hadn't seen that one!

  7. It was really soft, and only very slightly mushy in the middle, but not uncooked. I think we could have given it a bit more time, but the pepperoni was drying out. And I have a 6 quart slow cooker, and she recommended using a 4 quart, so that could have been the difference. I'd still likely make it again despite that.

I might try it in the oven in a 9x13 pan since that would spread it out a bit more to see if that makes any significant change or not. I'll let you know if I ever get around to doing that or not ;D
